Teapot Gas Station

Photograph shows a gas station in the form of a giant teapot in Zillah, Washington. John Margolies crisscrossed the United States photographing vernacular roadside architecture for nearly 40 years. The Library of congress purchased his archive of 35mm slides and digitized them in 2016. Margolies was an unremitting archivist of

“those vanishing emblems of midcentury enterprise, which were already imperiled by air travel, interstates and big-box sprawl.” -New York Times Obituary
